Automatic Gates: Maintenance & Service Agreements

Automatic Gates: Maintenance & Service Agreements

Regular Maintenance & Servicing agreements

Lion Automation offer regular servicing & maintenance to gates, barriers and shutters. We are Gate Safe and Safe Contractor accredited and take H&S very seriously. Did you know that automatic gates are actually classed as a machine and form part of the Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC)? If they’re not regularly maintained by someone suitably qualified they can and sadly have, posed a significant risk to children and adults.

In order for your gate to remain safe, whether a new installation or one years old it will need regular maintenance and service checks to ensure safety and reliability. “It is inconceivable to imagine an automated gate that does not require at least an annual maintenance visit and many systems will need more regular visits depending on use, automation and safety devices in use.” DHF ‘Advice for domestic owners, Automated gates’. dhf 1105/v1/09:15

If your gate is on a commercial premises, or you are a residential property owner, occupier, landlord or managing agent you must have a regular maintenance and servicing agreement taken out on the gates. We can help you with this - Our competitive prices for residential maintenance agreements start from as little as £400+vat for the year. To find out more on how we can help with your gate maintenance agreement get in touch with us using the contact tab at the top, and we will be happy to help!

Three Ways an Automatic Gate Improves Your Life

Three Ways an Automatic Gate Improves Your Life

Have you ever wished that you had a sidekick to open gates for you? Those of us at Lion Automation most certainly have, and we’ve found that many of our homeowners express the same desires! When we tell people that one of our most popular services includes installing automatic gates in England, people usually ask “Why install an automatic gate?” Read on to find out our top three reasons why an automatic gate is something you want to consider.

1. Security. This is the number one reason our customers ask about automatic gates, and this is also their number one favorite feature of the automatic gate once it is installed in our quick and easy process! With a traditional, physically locking gate, you may have to give keys to guests, meet them at a location, or waste time on complicated intercom systems. The alternative is to leave them unlocked, but this can allow anyone onto your house or into your property! With an automatic gate, you can ensure that only those who you trust will be coming home with you.

2. Hands-free entry. Whether you are walking, driving, biking, or getting home in some other way, the last thing you want to do at the end of a busy day is struggle with keys, remote controllers, or even number pads. By installing an automatic gate, you can program it to allow in who needs to get in without the hassle.

3. Pets and children. Your little ones—human or otherwise—are your world, but you know that they need to stay somewhere safe. Traditional gates are often easy for children to open, and many people neglect to close gates once they pass through them, risking the escape of your beloved animal friends. Take the extra step in home security and install an automatic gate that will open when you want it to, and keep your home, family, and pets safe from accidental exposure.

These are just a few of the great benefits of an automatic gate. When used alongside a full smart home setup, you can enjoy the highest levels of safety, security, and ease of use. To find out more, or to start your process toward an automatic gate today, contact Lion Automation today!

Top Five Ways Homes Today Are Becoming “Smarter”

Top Five Ways Homes Today Are Becoming “Smarter”

Most people list “being smart” as something they enjoy and seek out in others… isn’t it about time that we start seeking the same features in our homes? Today’s homes are getting smarter than ever, and skilled electricians in England can help you to make your house as clever as they come! Here are the top five ways that today’s homes are becoming smarter.

1. The “Internet of Things”. Thanks to the Internet, many homes are getting connected—to their owners! If you’ve purchased a smart refrigerator, lighting system, security system or other “smart” appliance, you’ve already connected to this!

2. Light it up. When lights are on, people are home… so trick thieves and opportunistic criminals by making them think you are at home! Automatic lighting systems can help you to create the illusion that you are right there, walking through your house, even if you are across the world.

3. Check in. Ever wonder how your home is doing while you’re away? Concerned about forgetting to turn something off? Smart homes can help by easing this anxiety, helping to keep you informed about what’s happening at your home no matter where you’re at. Access your smart devices remotely—many even work from mobile apps!

4. Safety first! Some of the best innovations in home technology have to do with safety. Whether you are lighting up your home in your absence or monitoring with a CCTV system, trust that your smart home will help you to stay safer.

5. Cost savings. Tired of the kids always leaving the lights on? Does the spouse keep turning the heat up, only to leave for work and forget to turn it back down? Let your home handle it! With the beauty of automation, you can cut costs and save energy.

Is your home smart enough to keep up with you? If not, consider adding the best in smart home technology with the help of Lion Automation! Our electricians in London have been in the field for over a decade, keeping up with the latest technology to stay safe and smart!

Common sliding gate fault

As you can see in the image below, the rollers of this sliding gate have failed. This is mainly due to a lack of service. Once the bearings go in the wheels it's incredibly hard for the gate to move in manual and automatically as you have metal on metal. Wheel replacement is required & a regular service at least twice a year.
